Croatia Themed Area will be a new themed area with rides, opening in Europa-Park (Germany, Europe) in 2024.
Key facts:
Europa-Park is working on a new themed area. The theme of this new area will be Croatia. Currently Europa-Park has 18th themed areas, Croatia will be the 19th.
The Croatian-themed area will be constructed on the location of the former “Immer wieder Sonntags” set, the “Flug des Ikarus” ride and the “Traumzeit Dome” theatre, which all were demolished.
Initially, the new area was supposed to open in 2023, but internally, 2024 is now being considered as an opening year too. The delay would be caused by supply problems of electronic components.
Europa-Park has announced not to attempt to create an area that replicates the most important places of Croatia, but rather a themed area that evocates the “vacation destination”-feeling that many Germans have when thinking about the country.
A dedicated storyline is being developed for the new Croatian-themed area, fitting within the story of ‘The Adventure Club of Europe’, which is already being used in Europa-Park.
The narrative will heavily focus on Nikola Tesla, a Croatian inventor, and his energy-based research.
The main buildings in the new Croatia area of Europa-Park will be an hydroelectric power plant and two towers resembling the Wardenclyffe Tower, which was designed by Nikola Tesla.
These two towers will be connected by a large roller coaster. This is the only attraction that has been announced yet for the new area.
The name of the roller coaster is rumoured to be Voltron coaster. You can read here more about Voltron Coaster and the story line behind the new attraction.
